| Subject: Question?: Do You Need the Water Baptism & the Holy Ghost to be Saved? Sat Mar 29, 2008 2:25 am | |
| Question?:
If a believer is baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins, is it Scriptually necessary for him or her to receive the Holy Ghost in order to be saved at the end of their Christian journey?
I know what the Scriptures state concerning this matter. But I only ask this question because there are a lot of people who are still confused or unaware of the truth concerning what it fully takes for a believer to be eternally saved into God's kingdom, and I solicit your spiritual knowledge here in helping to shed some 'light' on this subject!
Thanks for your insight in advance!
Sincerely,

| | To put it very simple YES. Jesus told Nicodemus except a man be born of Water AND Spirit he cannot enter heaven. Peter on the Day of Pentecost told the crowd what they had to do to be saved. Acts 2:38 is and always will be the only plan of salvation. Acts 19 steps beyond the line of easy believism and they are told they need the Holyghost by Paul. |

| Thank you brother fisherofmen238 for putting this topic of salvation into its proper spiritual perspective, for truly the Scriptures you have mentioned says it all!
But there is also another Bible verse that I want to add here, because it is one that is oftentimes overlooked that I feel will help clarify this subject even more fully in the minds of those who may have had some doubts, and that Scriptural reference is as follows:
1 Cor. 12:3
"Wherefore I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that NO MAN CAN SAY that JESUS IS THE LORD, but BY THE HOLY GHOST!"
************************************************************** NOW BELOW, IS THE SPIRITUAL TRANSLATION OF THIS PASSAGE AS THE HOLY GHOST HAS REVEALED IT TO ME! I HOPE THIS ADDS MORE CLARITY!
EXPLANATION:
A. When a "believer" is baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins, there are several things that spiritually transpires in the "new" life of this individual:
1. First, it is through the spiritually symbolic representation of baptism that a believer participates in the "death, burial, and resurrection" of Christ, wherein his former sinful life is put to death and buried in the "watery grave" and when he has risen, or is "resurrected" from that "grave," he begins a new "born-again" life with Christ Jesus!
a. Therefore, it is in this spiritual phase that a "born-again" believer is placed into the "womb" of God's Church which keep in mind, is the soon-to-be "Bride of Christ!"
b. It is also in this renewal phase when a believer receives his new "birth certificate" being born of Christ through the receiving of His blood through the "water," because it is then that the believer's name is "written in the Lamb's Book of Life!"
2. However, just like a natural child is conceived in a woman's womb, the female egg alone can not become a fetus until the male "seed" has conjoined with it. But even then, the fetus can neither grow, flourish, or go on to become a child, until God first breathes "life" into it!
a. And these same principles can be applied to the spiritual re-brith of an individual, because while the "water baptism" places him into the"womb" of the "Church," the receiving of the Holy Ghost is the spiritual seed that gives "life" to the "begotten" of God!
3. So in conclusion, NO MAN can truly say that he knows JESUS AS LORD, except he first be spiritually "born" of God through the reconciliation of the "water" baptism in HIS NAME, AND of the receiving of HIS Holy Spirit that comes to rest, rule, and abide in us, as well as to teach us about the TRUTH of God who is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ, Who IS the way, the TRUTH, and the "life" of the Almighty God!
********************************************************************
But in after thought, we who believe must also remember that even in the fulfilling of the spiritual things mentioned above, that it is not "written" whereby we are automatically "saved" in doing such things. But rather, we must ENDURETH UNTIL THE END, by continually FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF "FAITH", withstanding all evil, and by OVERCOMING THIS WORLD because ultimately...
Just as a natural child is not fully considered "born" until he comes out of the "womb" crying, whereby approving his life's existence, we too, have to be careful that are "names are not blotted out" of the Lamb's Book of Life because then, we would be considered "spiritually aborted," and left unrecognized by Jesus our Lord!
